Omni Ecosystems, located in Chicago, seeks a Controller to join our team on a full-time basis. The Controller is an integral member of the Omni team and plays a key role in Omni’s mission. Attention to detail, proactive thinking, a high degree of accuracy, and an up-beat attitude will help this person be successful with critical responsibilities in a fast-paced, positive environment.

Controller Description

The firm seeks a detail-oriented and hard-working individual with a commitment to accuracy and excellence, and a passion for our mission: to improve the earth across the triple bottom line. The Controller will manage the financial recordkeeping, reporting, human resources, and back-office operations, working closely with our team of professionals. Candidates should be self-motivated, proactive, and adhere to high standards of quality and accountability.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or similar major

  • 5-15 years progressively-responsible experience in financial administration

  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations

  • Experience in web-based software including Quickbooks Online, TSheets, Prosperworks, and Google Apps including GMail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides

  • Experience in web-based ERP software

  • Experience in accounting for inventory management; various service arrangements including lump sum, time and materials, and hourly not-to-exceed; and construction accounting, including AIA G702 G703, lien waivers, work-in-progress, etc.

  • Excellent organizational, administrative, analytical, and communication skills

  • Positive attitude and good sense of humor

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain comprehensive, logical, and organized system of accounts

  • Carry out all bookkeeping tasks

  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable

  • Review and approve expenses, time, and PTO

  • Run payroll

  • Review and correct entries within Omni Protocols: Financials, Quickbooks, GoogleDrive, TSheets

  • Prepare credit applications, pre-qualification forms and applications, maintain WBE applications and prepare renewal materials, maintain and prepare vendor and customer forms

  • Carry out office coordination and/or manage office coordinator/manager, as needed/staffed

  • Interface with landlord and neighbor tenants, managing day-to-day changes in building related topics

  • Manage I-9 verification

  • Manage corporate insurance renewal and Certificate of Insurance requests and filing

  • Manage health insurance applications, cancellations and questions

  • Carry out new employee on-boarding, forms, and training in Omni Protocol and Omni Processes

  • Calculate and remit sales & use taxes for states where Omni conducts business

  • Calculate and remit payroll taxes

  • Coordinate with external firm to prepare and submit Omni’s quarterly tax returns

  • Coordinate with external firm to prepare and submit Omni’s annual federal and state tax returns

  • Utilize existing ERP; review existing ERP, analyze new ERP, and implement new ERP, as needed

  • Reports to CEO

  • Assist with other projects and tasks, as needed
