Omni designed, supplied, installed and maintains the rooftop orchard, floating birch forest, and suspended living wall at the pioneering new Flagship McDonald's. The restaurant replaces the former Rock-N-Roll McDonald's and features several pioneering, sustainable features in addition to Omni's green infrastructure.

Congrats to Ross Barney Architects on their innovative design and the many talented trades that brought this project to life.

Check out our press roundup below!

"Walking into the new McDonald's, the first thing you'll likely notice is the garden of white birch trees and ferns surrounded by windows that appear to be floating in the middle of the building." -  TimeOut Chicago

"Multiplying this sense of expansiveness is the obligatory “wow” feature — a hanging, glass-sheathed garden, set below the roof and filled with river birch trees." - Blair Kamin, Chicago Tribune

"The 19,000-square-foot restaurant at Clark and Ontario streets in River North includes more than 70 street-level trees, as well as rooftop vegetation and an interior enclosed garden with ferns and white birch trees" - Crain's Chicago Business

"In the centre of the building sits a raised garden of ferns and white birch trees, housed within a glazed volume. Greenery also covers portions of the roof, while green walls are suspended from the ceiling inside." - Dezeen

"The sustainability theme is reflected in the project’s landscaping, green roof, rain-permeable outdoor plaza, suspended living plant walls, and a 'floating' glass-walled garden dropped down in the center of the building" - Curbed Chicago

"A floating glass volume hems in a garden planted with river birches, while hanging green walls offer pleasing shifts in texture" - Metropolis

"A sunken green roof in the middle of the restaurant provides guests with views of the apple trees, arugula, broccoli, kale, and native grasses being grown on the building’s exterior." - Architect's Newspaper
